Helpful info

Field Rules:

  • Prospective members must not fly without a full-fledged member.
  • Always annouce when you are going onto the field.
  • Always annouce when you are intending to land your plane.
  • Keep your plane within the boundary of the surrounding trees at all times.
  • Never fly over the neighboring Polo field.
  • Adhere to all AMA flight and safety rules at all times.
  • For visiting club members:
    • Members will wear the badge of their respective clubs.  In addition please have your current AMA card handy in case you are asked for it.
    • Remember you are a guest at these other clubs, do not overextend our welcome by overusing this rare privilege.  “Home” field members get preference on flying times.  Please wait your turn and fly with courtesy.
    • Adhere to all club flying and operation rules at all time.  You are responsible for knowing where the no fly zones are as well as operational hours for each club. This is vitally important for the Simsbury Club as they have issues with one of the landowners close to the field.  Please DO NOT FLY NEAR THE POLO FIELD.
    • Please announce yourself to the other members when you arrive.  They should be aware of this agreement.  If you see anyone at our club that you don’t recognize, please great them as we always do with warmth and open arms.  Ask if they are members and if not, ask to see a badge and ensure they are AMA members. If for any reason you are asked to cease flying at these fields please do so immediately and follow up with Ron to discuss.
  • Have fun flying!

Flying with Lithium Polymer (Lipo) batteries is clean, quiet and safe if you take these precautions:

  • Always charge your batteries to it’s storage charge before putting them away – generally 3.85v (per cell).
  • Never run your batteries below 3.2v (per cell), otherwise you can damage them permanently.
  • Never charge or discharge your batteries unattended.
  • Never puncture them because of the fire risk. If you do, place them quickly in a bucket of salt water.
